Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah, hurrah!!! I am no longer going out with a dossy, unemployed student but with a man in full possession of a geeky job. This change in status, along with my change in car, has knocked nearly £200 off my car insurance. Yet another damn good reason not to dump him! :-)

don't undrsand - does the fact that he has a job reduce your premium or is it that you have put a man on your policy that reduces it?

Probably the former, although putting me on Craig's insurance reduced his by about £150 too!

I don't understand it either - just changing from the Madmobile to my boring car dropped the premium by £70, and then adding Rob to the insurance dropped it by another £100! Barmy! Maybe they think a person who has a "partner" to add to their insurance is too boring to go out driving recklessly! :-)

Whilst I have the partner and sensible car, he doesn't drive so would I still get discount if he's a learner? Not that he's rushing to learn to drive (hmph!).

I'm astounded people don't know that unless the other driver is a higher risk (eg has lots of points, is inexpereienced, young etc), it's generally cheaper to have extra drivers because you will be assumed to be sharing the driving. Eg driving long distances is less risky as you can take it in turns.

I had no idea because I've never added anyone to my insurance before! Oh the new-found joys of being a smug married!! :-)
